The Chicken or the Egg, fondly known as “Chegg”, has been the hottest place for wings on the island for years. Opening their doors on Memorial Day weekend of 1991, Chegg was created from a dream of two simple men. The property next door used to be owned by Bill Scrimmer was “Bill’s Barber Shop”. He would sit every morning and eat breakfast at what was then “The Egg”. Time went on, as it seems to always do, and Bill has since retired, but his legend lives on inside the restaurant. In 1993, owners moved the business across the street to a larger venue in order to plan for the hopeful expansion, and indeed it expanded.
