LBI resident musician Ryan Zimmerman is back on LBI after a 3 week tour taking him from Baltimore, MD to the Florida Keys. I was able to speak with Zimmerman just before this tour…
Zimmerman spent his summers on LBI as a child until calling it his permanent home some 15 years ago. He loves the seasons of the island, calling LBI “the best of both worlds”. He enjoys how it can turn off and be quiet in the winter season, yet he enjoys the hustle and bustle summer.
Inspired by anything and everything, even just a beautiful day; this self taught musician brings an eclectic mix of music to LBI. Zimmerman’s playlist includes a variety of genres including reggae, acoustic funk, folk, blues and Americana. The variety is what keeps him playing gigs 5-6 nights a week during the summer season. His performances draw crowds for the original sounds and songs at some of LBI’s favorite hot spots like: The Arlington, Buckalew’s, The Plantation, The Shell among others. Adding to the uniqueness of the sound of his vocals and guitar; Zimmerman is also self-taught in a variety of other musical instruments including: the harmonica, mandolin & piano, just to name a few.
Celebrate Ryan Zimmerman’s return to LBI this Thursday, April 20 at the Ship Bottom Brewery and Ryan Zimmerman w/ Catcha Fish, Saturday, April 22 at Buckalews!
If you are unable to make it to one of his gigs or just want more of his music; keep an eye out for Zimmerman’s new album coming out this Summer, produced by Pete Steinkopf of the Bouncing Souls!
