Next time you cruise the length of LBI take a moment and imagine yourself in North Carolina’s Outer Banks. You’ll find some striking similarities between these two barrier islands…
Barnegat Light, LBI – much like Kitty Hawk, NC, Barnegat Light is world known, Kitty Hawk for the Wright Brothers, Barnegat Light for its Lighthouse. Each have a great deal of history and State Parks to preserve that history.
Harvey Cedars, LBI – like Southern Shores, NC, Harvey Cedars is predominantly residential hosting a few shops and restaurants. Each offer an array of recreational opportunities like kayaking or sailing on their western shores.
North Beach & Love Ladies, LBI – much like Duck, NC these towns have prestigious beaches that are adorned with lavish beachfront homes.
Surf City, LBI – Names alone draw comparison with Surf City, LBI and Waves, NC. Each town offers a variety of activities for the shopper, diner or outdoor enthusiast looking to take to the waves or do some stand up paddle boarding.
Ship Bottom, LBI – just like Kill Devil Hills for OBX, Ship Bottom serves as the center of LBI. A vacation destination of its own, both towns offer plenty to do and experience while also offering the conscience of being in the half way point to the rest of their island.
Long Beach Twp, LBI- The majority of Long Beach Twp’s domain lies in one large clump between Ship Bottom and Beach Haven. This area is very similar to Avon, NC. Each town is home to their island’s largest chain grocery store as well as, surf shops, gift shops, galleries, coffee shops, souvenirs, bike shops, bait shops, etc. Both Avon, NC & Long Beach Twp, LBI offer a vast array of rental properties.
Beach Haven, LBI – The Nags Head of LBI. A resort area offering all one could want in a shore town, from dining, hotels, shopping and water sports, like jet skiing and parasailing.
Holgate, LBI – of all the LBI towns, Holgate’s appearance alone gives the feel of OBX, especially Cape Hatteras. The high dunes, soft cream colored sand, bird watching and surfing fishing is the ideal southern OBX experience right here in New Jersey.
